The annual awards recognize individuals whose body of work and commitment to social and emotional learning (SEL) have advanced the field and paved the way for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe social and emotional learning movement is built by people who have spent their time, energy, and passion working together to create optimal outcomes for students. These awards pay tribute to pioneering SEL leaders and honor today\u2019s education innovators dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth across the nation,\u201d said CASEL President and CEO, Dr. Aaliyah A. Samuel.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, CASEL recognizes seven individuals:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ann S. Nerad Awards for Distinguished Contributions to Advance Policies for Social and Emotional Learning&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Senator Susan Collins of Maine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. Linda Dusenbury, former lead of CASEL\u2019s Collaborating States Initiative&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mary Utne O\u2019Brien Awards for Excellence in Expanding the Evidence-Based Practice of Social and Emotional Learning&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eric Gordon, former CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. Kamilah Drummond-Forrester, leading SEL educator, coach and expert<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Joseph E.
